In this computer age, there are tons of software that you could learn. Maybe you use Microsoft Word for word processing, but did you know you can use the same program to make a webpage? It’s quite simple and fun too. (Click here to MAKE YOUR OWN WEBSITE). Maybe you have software to store pictures. Even if you don’t have a camera, you could make a collection of your favorite pictures from the web. (See HOW TO DOWNLOAD IMAGES FROM THE WEB). Maybe you have some movie software. Take time to learn how to download images from your camcorder, you could make your own DVD’s to honor your child at graduation, or to honor your parents or grandparents for their birthday or anniversary. Even if you don’t have a camcorder, you could use a digital camera to make a great slide show, or to even make an animation. (See SKYE’S THE LIMIT regarding Lego animation).

There are a lot of good books out there for pure enjoyment and for learning. This is a great way to keep your mind active. Don’t forget to read your scriptures too. That’s actually most important, because it’ll give God a chance to communicate personally to you in ways that you will be amazed.

Don’t be afraid of things that are hard or challenging. Some of the most worthwhile things are challenging at first. The computer can be an overwhelming monster at first. But in time, it becomes one of your most used gadgets in your home. A good thing to remember, is that if something is hard for you at first, it usually means that you are on the right track to learning something valuable and wonderful.

The mind is one of the most powerful things in the world. “As a man thinketh, so is he.” “Control your thoughts, and control your actions.” It has also been said, “Control your thoughts, and control your destiny.” Most of our actions follow thoughts. Yes, sometimes we do things without thinking, but many things, which we do wrong, were things that we thought about doing before we did it. So if you have any bad habits that you are trying to get rid of, don’t let your mind wander to those kinds of thoughts that lead you into trouble. So what do you think of instead? Sing a song, or say a prayer, and get yourself into something good. Play some music that speaks to your soul. Remember, control your thoughts, and control your destiny!

Everything that you have is from God. Yes, you put in all those long hours at work, but still he is the one to be grateful to that you have a good job. It is only reasonable that we offer 1/10th of all we have to help God's work. In the scriptures it says, "Can a man rob God? When in fact we do "rob" him, if we do not pay an honest tithe back to him. You could give it to a special charity, or to your local church. And in turn, God promises to poor down the blessings of heaven upon you, so that you will not have room enough to receive it. This may seem like a difficult challenge, to give one tenth of your paycheck towards God's ministry, but really it's only mind over matter. Even if you fear you will not have enough for the month, Trust in God. He never goes back on his promises!
