You don't need to have any special talents or abilities to serve. Everyone
needs a helping hand sometime or another. Maybe your neighbor's lawn needs
to be cut, but you know that they are busy with work. You could cut it
for them. Maybe your sister-in-law is moving. You could help her to move.
All you have to do is to make time in your busy schedule to lend a helping
hand. You'll be glad you did!
JUST THINK OF OTHERS
& LET THEM KNOW YOU CARE
Sometimes you can
help someone by just thinking of them, and telling them that you thought
of them. Getting an email or letter saying that you thought of them, could
really make someone's day! Just a short phone call to tell someone that
you were thinking of them could really make their day!
TAKE A MOMENT AND
MAKE SOMEONE'S DAY
You don't need an entire day to be able to serve others. This could be
done in small ways, which only would take a moment. Maybe he’ll
need a ride to work because it’s raining; maybe she’ll need
a back massage. Maybe you could help cut someone's lawn. Maybe you could watch your neighbor’s kids, so they could go
out to dinner. Maybe they could watch your kids the following week. Sometimes
just making time out of your busy schedule can really mean a lot to someone
else. Go visit with your Mom. Go spend time with your sister. Making time
for those that you truly care about will truly lift your soul.
OTHERS BY SHARING YOUR TALENT WITH THEM
We all have things that we are good at, which if we could share. Maybe
you know how to cut hair, and you notice that your nephew needs a haircut.
Maybe you know how to fix stereos and your sister's stereo is in need
of repair. As you interact with your family and
friends, and community, try to find ways that you can share your talents.
It will enrich their lives, and make you great!
SHARE YOUR TALENT BY TEACHING
IT TO OTHERS
There is an old proverb, give a man a fish and he eats for a day, but
teach a man to fish, and he eats for a lifetime. Again, we all have special
talents that we could share with others to brighten and enrich their lives.
Maybe we could teach someone the basics on cutting hair. Or teach someone
the fundamentals of painting or playing the piano. You'll find that as
you teach, you too will learn and grow in the talent that already glows
within you! Now don't be stingy or hold back in teaching others the skills
that have taken you a lifetime to learn. Remember talents were not given
to you for only you to enjoy. Talents are meant to be shared. In so doing,
they will thank God for you, for you have changed their lives!
